Biographies
Pianist Jean-David Coen
holds degrees from the Paris Conservatory Juilliard,and Yale,
finishing with his Doctorate from the University of Southern California. He has studied
with significant masters representing each of the three essential pianistic traditions:
German,Russian, and French. He has toured and given master classes in both China and Japan
as part of Trio Oregon. Both solo and ensemble performances have been heard on NPR's
"Performance Today",KUSC, and WQXR in New York . He has been a Visiting Professor of
Piano at the Sheppard School Of Music at USC, and is currently Artist-in-Residence at
Willamette University in Oregon.
Daniel Rouslin
received his undergraduate degree from the Oberlin Conservatory,
and did graduate work at the University of Chicago and University of Iowa where he earned
his doctorate. For thirteen years he was first violinist of the Delos Quartet, which toured
Europe seven times and won first prize in the Colmar (France) International String Quartet
Competition in 1981. Since 1986 Dr. Rouslin has been a member of the music faculty at
Willamette University where he is head of the string program and teaches violin, chamber
music, music theory, aural skills, and a variety of general education courses. He has been
a member of Trio Northwest and Ensemble East-West. As a soloist and chamber musician,
Daniel Rouslin has toured on five continents. For two consecutive years he was Artistic
Ambassador for the U.S. State Department in South America and the Middle East. Daniel
Rouslin has given solo recitals in recital in Portland, Seattle, Chicago, and Philadelphia.
He has participated in the Oregon Bach Festival, the Oregon Festival of American Music,
the Ernest Bloch Festival, and has been a member of the Oregon Mozart Players. He was
concertmaster of the Salem Chamber Orchestra from 1986 to 2016. Recently Dr. Rouslin has
performed with the Fairbanks (Alaska) Summer Arts Festival and the Trinity Alps (California)
Chamber Music Festival. He traveled to Mexico with Jean-David Coen on a faculty exchange
program at the University of Vera Cruz in April, 2017.
